Hands on DC is an all volunteer, nonprofit organization who’s goal is to create better schools and brighter futures for children in Washington D.C. by improving the physical condition of local schools, and providing scholarship programs to local students. Many schools in Washington D.C. are nearly 60 years old, if not older, and in most cases are deteriorating. Hands on DC’s mission is to train volunteers to refurbish schools to create a better environment for learning, raise funds to support local scholarship programs, and encourage engagement of the communities in their schools.
Top Shelf worked side by side with Hands on DC to create a beautiful site that highlights their involvement in the local community. Our designers selected photos from Hands on DC’s recent community projects, and showcased them on the rotating slider on the homepage. The use of simple icons in the orange accent color make the site’s navigation very visually appealing and user friendly. There are also many calls to action across the site that will give any visitor to the site plenty of opportunities to contribute to this awesome organization. There is even a custom donation function that allows individuals to donate on their own, in support of someone specific, or on the behalf of a company!
